Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the health promoting lifestyle and family nursing phenomena of military families living in medically vulnerable areas.
Method: A descriptive correlational design study was designed. The instruments used were ¡®Family Nursing Phenomena in Korea¡¯ established by Yoon et al.(1999) and ¡®Health-promoting lifestyle¡¯ maded by Park(1995).
Results: The average score of performance in the health-promoting lifestyle was 315.24, and the major family nursing phenomenon of military families was identified as the ¡®lack of social support system within the community¡¯. There were significant negative relationships among lack of social support system in community, inappropriate life style, unhealthy disease management, professional health maintenance, diet control and self-achievement.
Conclusion: In order to help military family members improve their health status, a customized comprehensive health promotion program needs to be developed.
